SUPER Eagles fullback Ola Aina has indicated that he is likely to extend his contract at high-flying English Premier League side Nottingham Forest when his current deal expires at the end of the season.
In the summer of 2023, Aina joined Forest on a free transfer from Italian side Torino and went on to make 22 appearances for the side that season. As a result, Forest activated a one-year extension clause in his contact at the end of the season and with the current campaign now past midway point, the two sides are negotiating a new contract.
Aina, 28, is a Nigerian international and has about four months left on his contract at Nottingham Forest. During the January transfer window, the defender was linked with moves to Manchester City and Galatasaray but nothing came of their enquiries and the player remained at Forest.
With negotiations still ongoing, Aina's long-term future at Forest remains unresolved, as his representatives are in talks with the two-time European champions over a contract extension, but no agreement is in place yet. There is talk, however, that the Chelsea academy graduate could put pen to paper on a fresh four-year deal once an agreement is finalised.
Predominantly a right-back for club and country, Aina has made quite an impression since landing at Nottingham Forest, showcasing his versatility in the fullback positions and wing-back, earning him a regular spot in Nuno Espírito Santo's line-up. Aina has been a constant in Nottingham Forest's line-up, starting every one of their 24 Premier matches this season.
When asked by Sky Sports if he sees himself staying at Nottingham Forest for many years, Aina responded: "I hope so. I really enjoy it here. I enjoy the staff, the players, the club, the community. Everything about it is a good place, so hopefully.”
