Spanish giants Atletico Madrid set to submit fresh bid for Ndidi at the end of the season

SUPER Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi could be on his way to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid at the end of the season as the La Liga side is planning to launch a fresh bid for him at the end of the current campaign.

During the recent January transfer window, Leicester City rejected offers for Ndidi as they needed him for the fight against relegation from the English Premier League. However, with Leicester stuck in the bottom three in the table and facing the prospect of relegation, Atletico Madrid plan to make a fresh bid for the midfielder.

According to online sports portal Caught Offside, Atletico will move for Ndidi again at the end of the season. Another Spanish club, Real Betis and French Ligue One side, Monaco are also reported to have shown an interest in anchorman.

Ndidi, 28, recently returned to action for Leicester City after spending around two months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. He joined Leicester City from Belgian Pro League side Genk in January 2016 and has gone on to become one of the Foxes most consistent players and one of the fans' favourites.

A tough tackling anchorman who shields the back four brilliantly, Ndidi can also play in the heart of the defence when called upon to do so. He signed a new three-year contract with Leicester , the former Premier League champions last summer, so Atletico will need to come up with a decent offer if they want to prise Ndidi away from the Foxes.

Atletico Madrid are currently sitting in second place in the Spanish league, just a point behind leaders and across-town rivals Real Madrid. They will be hoping that Ndidi will help with their fight for the title and the quest to win European silverware too.
