Nigerian fullback Zaidu Sanusi looks set to join Leeds United in Premier League next season

SUPER Eagles left fullback Zaidu Sanusi could be on his way to England next season as Leeds United are looking to purchase him as a replacement for Dominican Junior Firpo as the club gets set for a return to the English Premier League.

Leeds are almost certain to return  to the English Premier League next season and know that to stay up, they will have to reinforce the current squad. Already, there are indications that Firpo will leave Leeds at the end of the current campaign as he is out of contract and with the two sides unable to reach agreement on a new deal, he is said to be bound for Spain.

Firpo is in the final six months of his contract at Elland Road and apparently, the Whites have already contacted Porto and are preparing an offer in the region of €2m for Sanusi as a replacement. Sanusi, 27, is currently out of favour with the Portuguese giants and a move to the English Premier League will suit him just fine.

Apparently, Sanusi is eyeing a move away from Porto after being reduced to just 102 minutes in six outings, this season. He has two years remaining on his current contract at the Estádio do Dragão but Leeds are considering a move for the full-back and the opportunity looks too good to pass up on.

According to one source representing Sanusi's agency, a four-year contract is on the table. He added: "Contacts began last week, with Leeds reportedly very serious and interested in Sanusi.

"They are looking to offer €2m with a four-year contract on the table. It is now up to Porto to decide whether they are willing to sell him, as the player is keen to move. Initial discussions have been positive, so a move is very likely."
