ENGLISH Premier League side have stepped up their pursuit of Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye with a view to purchasing him from Italian side Udinese during the forthcoming summer transfer window.
Okoye, 25, has been in fine form for Udinese this season, establishing himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and drawing the attention of top European sides. Among the clubsides interested in Okoye are Bournemouth and Italian giants AC Milan as he become a hot prospect following a string of standout performances in Serie A.
According to reports from online sports portal Africafoot, Bournemouth have stepped up their pursuit and are eager to finalise a deal for Okoye as quickly as possible. Bournemouth is said to have already tabled a €13m bid for the shot-stopper, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
Meanwhile, AC Milan, who previously showed an interest in Okoye, are also monitoring the situation closely. According to Africa Foot, the Rossoneri had attempted to bring the former Sparta Rotterdam keeper to the San Siro in 2023 but failed to reach an agreement with Udinese.
While Udinese may be reluctant to lose a key figure, the club could be tempted by a substantial offer for the goalkeeper, who still has a contract with them that last up until June 2028. if he comes to England, Okoye will join compatriots like Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Taiwo Awoniyi, Wilfred Ndidi, Ola Aina, Joe Aribo, etc, in the Premier League.
