Ndidi poised to leaved relegated Leicester thanks to €9m release clause in his contract

SUPER Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will be free to leave relegated English Premier League club Leicester City for a token fee because his new contract has a clause stating that he can be released if a suitor pays €9m for his services.

After just a year back in the top flight, Leicester have once again been relegated to the English Championship, which is almost certain to lead to the exodus of a lot of their top players. Last summer, Ndidi signed a new contract with the former English Premier League champions, which included the release clause.

Ndidi was an important player for Leicester City last season but he could not help them avoid relegation despite featuring in 27 games across all competitions and providing four assists. Following Leicester City’s relegation, some clubs have begun showing interest in acquiring his services.

For instance, Turkish side Besiktas have been linked with the 28-year-old midfielder for the past two years and one or two Premier League sides are also considering making an offer to Leicester City. This could see Ndidi on his way soon as €9m is an affordable fee for clubs in the Premier League or in the other top five European leagues.
