Cyriel Dessers win Scottish Golden Boot award as Glasgow Rangers finish runners-up

SUPER Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has won the Golden Boot in the Scottish Premier League having been officially adjudged to be the highest goal scorer during the 2024/25 season with 18 goals.

Dessers, 30, who plays for Glasgow, joined the club in 2023, signing a four year contract in a deal said to be worth about €6.5m. He has since gone on to establish himself as a stalwart in the side and ended the season brilliantly over the weekend scoring in the 2-2 draw against Hibernian on Saturday.

Rangers ended the season as runners-up behind champions and across-town rivals Celtic, with Dessers finishing the campaign with 18 goals from 35 league appearances. His closest challengers Dundee United’s Simon Murray and Celtic star Daizen Maeda, who both ended the season with 16 goals each.

Dessers now becomes the first Rangers player to win the Scottish Golden Boot award since Alfredo Morelos. Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland won the Scottish Premiership top scorer award last season.
