English Women's Super League giants Everton hope to sign Falcons skipper Ajibade

ENGLISH Women's Super League (WSL) giants Everton have initiated talks with Super Falcons skipper Rasheedat Ajibade with a view to signing her before the start of the forthcoming 2025/26 season.

Current in camp for the impending Women's Africa Cup of Nations due to start  in Morocco on July 6, Ajibade, 25, spent the last four years playing for Atletico Madrid in Spain. Having left the club, she is now a free agent but has decided to keep her options open, stating that she will not make a final decision until after the Nations Cup.

Ajibade has reportedly received offers from clubs in America’s National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) but Everton appear to have emerged as the favourite to sign her. A move to the Merseyside club will see her link up with international teammate Toni Payne.

Everton appear to be one of the favourite destinations of Super Falcons these days, as the club is looking to strengthen its squad to enable it compete for the WSL title. Over the last few weeks, Everton concluded a deal with Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie who will also now be joining the club ahead of next season.
