SUPER Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi could be moving to English Premier League giants Everton during the current transfer window after it emerged that the Merseyside club have made enquiries about securing his services.
After just a year back in the top flight, Ndidi's current club Leicester City have once again been relegated to the English Championship, which is almost certain to lead to the exodus of a lot of their top players. Last summer, Ndidi signed a new contract with the former English Premier League champions, which included a €9m release clause and now that Leicester have been relegated, all suitors have to do is activate that clause
Ndidi, 28, has racked up over 300 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 18 goals, providing 22 assists and winning the FA Cup and English Championship titles with the club. According to transfer expert, Ben Jacobs, Manchester United are among the clubs keeping tabs on Ndidi's situation as they look to reinforce their midfield and now, it looks like Everton have joined the fray.
Everton have a long-standing tradition of fielding top Nigerian talent, having had several Super Eagles on their books over the years. Nigerian internationals who have played for the Toffees include Daniel Amokachi, Joseph Yobo, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Victor Anichebe, Ademola Lookman and more recently, Alex Iwobi.
According to online portal GiveMeSports, Everton have revived their pursuit of Ndidi, who was previously linked with a move to Goodison Park last summer. Ndidi made 30 appearances across all competitions for Leicester during the 2024/25 season, contributing one goal and providing five assists but despite his strong performances, he could not help the Foxes avoid the drop back to the Championship.
Ndidi, who made his debut for the Nigerian national team in 2015, remains a key figure in the Super Eagles midfield and will be a key player in this year's African Cup of Nations. Apart from Everton and Manchester United,. Spanish side Atletico Madrid are said to also be interested in Ndidi.
