Nnadozie moves to the English WSL after joining Brighton on a free transfer from Paris FC

SUPER Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has expressed delight at her recent move to the English Women's Super League (WSL) after she joined Brighton & Hove Albion on a free transfer from French club Paris FC.

Nnadozie, 24, who has established herself as Africa's best female goalkeeper, spent five years in the French capital has said she hopes to now win silverware with the Seagulls. She signed for Brighton and then flew off to Morocco to join her Super Falcons team mates as they prepare for the forthcoming Women's African Cup of Nations.

In an interview posted on the club's X account after signing the deal, Nnadozie said: “I want to win trophies, to win games but most importantly, to help the team achieve great things.”

Nnadozie has made 55 appearances for Nigeria, making her senior debut in 2018 and featured in goal for the falcons at the last Women's World Cup. She also has experience in the Women's Champions League, having made 16 European appearances for Paris FC between 2022 and 2025.

Brighton manager Dario Vidosic, said: "She's a talented and commanding goalkeeper who will bring consistency and confidence to our defensive line. We're confident she'll add both depth and drive to a squad already full of ambition as we continue to build for next season."

One of the highlights of Nnadozie's time at FC Paris was her heroic a heroic display in the 2025 Coupe de France Féminine final, where she saved two penalties against Paris Saint-Germain to clinch the trophy for her team. In 2024, she then made history by becoming the first African player to be named the UNFP Division 1 Féminine Goalkeeper of the Season.

She also won the D1 Arkema Best Goalkeeper of the Season and the UNFP Goalkeeper of the Season awards in the same year. Before her move to Europe, Nnadozie played for four seasons with Rivers Angels in Nigeria, where she won the Nigeria Women’s Premier League in 2019 and three Nigeria Women’s Cup titles.

Her outstanding performances earned her the IFFHS Africa’s Best Woman Goalkeeper award in 2019. On the international stage, Nnadozie has risen through the ranks, representing Nigeria at the U-17 and U-20 levels before making her senior debut in April 2018 against France.
