Portsmouth sign 20-year old Nigerian goalkeeper Erabor offering a one-year contract

ENGLISH Women's Super League (WSL) team Portsmouth have signed Nigerian goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor on a free transfer from neighbours Brighton & Hove Albion offering her a one year contract with the option of an extension.

Erabor, 20, returns to Portsmouth off the back of a successful loan spell with the club in the second half of last season. Erhabor did not get the opportunity to represent former club Brighton & Hove Albion at senior level but she has got some vital experience while out on loan at Hibernian, Plymouth Argyle and Portsmouth over the last couple of seasons.

On the international stage, Erhabor has been in and around the Nigerian Under-17 squad in the past while the next step will be to push for Under-20 honours. Several analysts have tipped her to become a future Nigerian number one.

Portsmouth boss Jay Sadler, said “We’re really pleased to welcome Comfort back to the club on a permanent deal. She’s a goalkeeper with real character and she showed glimpses of her potential during her short loan spell with us last season.

“Comfort has all the tools to grow into a top goalkeeper and her presence will bring healthy competition to our goalkeeping department.” Erhabor is Portsmouth’s sixth summer transfer window signing.
