ENGLISH Championship side Leicester City have rejected a €7m bid for Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi from Turkish giants Besistas branding the offer derisory and well below their valuation of the midfielder.
After just a year back in the top flight, Ndidi's current club Leicester City have once again been relegated to the English Championship, which is almost certain to lead to the exodus of a lot of their top players. Last summer, Ndidi signed a new contract with the former English Premier League champions, which included a €9m release clause and now that Leicester have been relegated, all suitors have to do is activate that clause
Ndidi, 28, has racked up over 300 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 18 goals, providing 22 assists and winning the FA Cup and English Championship titles with the club. According to transfer expert, Ben Jacobs, Manchester United are among the clubs keeping tabs on Ndidi's situation as they look to reinforce their midfield and last month, Everton appeared to have joined the fray too.
Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas who once had Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorunmu on their books looked to cash in too but did not even meet the €9m asking price. Ndidi has been linked to numerous clubs including Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, Juventus, Besiktas and Fenerbahce and even the Saudi Pro League.
However, none of these clubs have made a proper move by putting their money where their mouth is as Besiktas has done. However, Besiktas's bid has been quickly rejected because it is €8m less than Ndidi's actual €15m valuation on Transfermarkt and €2 million less than his release clause.
In the meantime, Ndidi has been heavily involved in Leicester's pre-season, as they prepare for their return to Championship football. He has featured in most of their warm-up and friendly games so far and is now the mist senior player at the club following the departure of Jamie Vardie.
