As part of the drive to grow the economy dramatically, the National Assembly needs to pass the Nigerian Secondary School Subjects Act that introduces the following

Ayo Akinfe

[1] Mining

[2] Manufacturing

[3] Trade finance

[4] Clean energy

[5] Mandarin

[6] Freight and shipping

[7] Infrastructural development

[8] Property development and mortgages

[9] Social media platforms

[10] Public transport

When we were in secondary school, we were taught leaf parts like apex, stem and stalk and insect parts like head, thorax and abdomen. Such knowledge has not been of any use to anybody in their adult life.

If we want a competitive economy, we need to equip our young people with skills that will be relevant to them. If we do not know about mining, manufacturing or clean energy, we are going to remain an import-dependent economy.
