SUPER Eagles striker Tolu Arkodare has reached an agreement with English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers that will see him move from Belgian side Genk in a five year deal worth €27m.
Due to have his medical at Molineux today, Arokodare, 22, has agreed in principle to join the Premier League side in what is a record-breaking deal. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, revealed that this deal would make Arokodare the most expensive sale in Genk's history, surpassing the €25m they received for Sander Berge in 2020.
Lagos-born Arokodare has been in impressive form since joining Genk in 2023, setting the Belgian league alight with his scintillating performances. During his time with the club, he has scored 40 goals in 112 appearances across all competitions, catching the eye of several Premier League sides including Wolves, Burnley and Fulham.
However, it was Wolves who moved decisively to secure his signature, out-maneuvering European giants AC Milan and Napoli who recently showed an interest in signing the striker. later today, Arokodare will undergo his medical at Wolves and should everything go according to plan, he will put pen to paper on the deal.
If the move proceeds as planned, Arokodare will join an impressive list of Nigerian footballers who have commanded significant transfer fees from Genk. Paul Onuachu moved to Southampton for €18m in 2023, while Wilfred Ndidi joined Leicester City for €17.6m back in 2017.
Arokodare's imminent arrival at Wolves continues the growing Nigerian presence in the Premier League. His powerful playing style and clinical finishing should provide Wolves with a valuable attacking option as they look to establish themselves in the top half of the table.
However, Wolves manager Vitor Pereira has already expressed concerns about the potential squad shortages during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Should Arokodare complete his move, he could be unavailable for over a month while representing Nigeria at the tournament in Morocco.
Wolves could lose several key players to the tournament, scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. Marshall Munetsi, Tawanda Chirewa, Emmanuel Agbadou and Jackson Tchatchoua are all expected to represent their countries at the African Cup of Nations.
