All these offences I listed are acts of economic sabotage which are preventing the Nigerian economy from growing. They scare away investors, divide Nigerians and create an atmosphere of insecurity which inhibits economic activities.
Unlike the British who passed a Treachery Act in 1940, I will not advocate the death penalty, as in 2025, we should be moving away from capital punishment. However, this measure is just as important as the 1940 act because Nigeria is facing a far more severe economic crisis today than Britain did during World War Two.
In 1946, the UK repealed its Treachery Act, so I would advocate that Nigeria reviews her own law every five years. Maybe we can repeal it when we have a gross domestic product of about $2trn.
Believe you me my people, we are currently at war with poverty. Unfortunately we do not realise it and it appears the government is too scared to place the nation on a war footing
