Falcons shot-stopper Chiamaka nominated for Best Fifa Women’s Goalkeeper Award

SUPER Falcons and Brighton & Hove Albion shot stopper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been shortlisted for the 2025 Best Fifa Women’s Goalkeeper Award in a further acknowledgement of her abilities after recently being voted the fourth best keeper in the world.

At the highly prestigious 2025 Ballon d'Or Awards ceremony which held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris in September, Nnadozie came fourth in the Women's Goalkeeper of the Year category. Nnadozie, 24, who has been in outstanding form for both club and country over the past year, was shortlisted among the five best goalkeepers in the world.

Known as the Trophée Yachine or Women’s Goalkeeper Award, the category was won by England and Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton, who topped the voting after a stellar season. German veteran Ann-Katrin Berger, now with Gotham FC, secured second place, while Spanish star Cata Coll of Barcelona finished third.

Now, Nnadozie has been shortlisted alongside the world’s elite goalkeepers again, including Hannah Hampton, Ann-Katrin Berger, Cata Coll, Christiane Endler, Anna Moorhouse and Phallon Tullis-Joyce for another global award.  Her nomination underscores her status as one of the finest goalkeepers in the world.

In may this year, Nnadozie helped her former club, Paris FC, clinch the Coupe de Féminine title and then in August she played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s winning of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. During the Nations Cup, she kept four clean sheets and was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

Already, Nnadozie has been nominated for the 2025 Caf Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year Award, which she hopes to win for a third consecutive time. Known for her sharp reflexes, penalty-saving heroics and commanding presence between the sticks, Chiamaka continues to raise the profile of Nigerian women’s football on the global stage.
