Joshua survives ghastly road accident along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that claims two lives

FORMER world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has survived a ghastly road accident in Ogun State that claimed the lives of two people along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near the village of Makun.

Earlier this month, at Miami's Kaseya Centre, Joshua, 36, knocked out former YouTuber Jake Paul ,28, in the sixth round after four heavy knockdowns and is believed to have broken his jaw with a final vicious shot. Paul had promised to deliver one of the biggest upsets in boxing history, with the 13-fight novice stepping up to fight one of the most devastating finishers in heavyweight boxing.

With this victory, Joshua is now looking forward to a major showdown with long term rival Tyson Fury in 2026. In Nigeria to celebrate the festive season before preparations for any possible fight start, Joshua was travelling near his native Sagamu within Ogun State when the ghastly accident occured.

Apparently, the vehicle carrying Joshua collided with another car under circumstances that are still under investigation. Joshua sustained minor injuries but two people travelling in the other car were not so lucky as they died on the spot.

According to eyewitness accounts, the accident happened just before Danco Filling Station in Makun, near the Sagamu Interchange of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Oluseyi Babaseyi, a spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, has confirmed the incident.
