West Ham bid £12m for Nigerian striker Durosinmi as January transfer window opens

ENGLISH Premier League side West Ham have tabled a £12m bid for Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi with the aim of securing his services from Czech side Viktoria Plzen during the current January transfer window.

Stuck in the bottom three and facing the prospect of relegation, West Ham needs to strengthen its attack during the current window if the club wants to stay in the top flight. As a result, manager Nuno Espírito Santo has made acquiring a centre forward his absolute priority now that he has a month to bring in new players.

Things are looking dire for the Hammers who sit 18th in the Premier League table with just 14 points from 19 matches, having scored the fourth fewest goals in the top flight this season. Sitting five points adrift of safety, pressure is mounting on Nuno after a barren run of seven games without victory and he has identified Durosinmi as someone who can stop the rot.

One club insider said: “Rafiu Durosinmi is a target that has emerged if Nuno decides to abandon the domestic approach. He is a 6’4 Nigerian playing for FC Viktoria Plzeň in the Czech Republic.“

However, Football Insider journalist Pete O'Rourke, pointed out that West Ham have actually moved in with an offer. It is now claimed that a £12m bid has gone in from West Ham for Durosinmi, with both Stuttgart and Lazio making identical offers for him as the January transfer window opens.

Durosinmi, 22, has been on fire for Plzen since returning from a serious cruciate ligament injury, bagging 22 goals in all competitions during the course of 2025. His form, both domestically and in Europe has caught the attention of talent-spotters across the continent, making him a highly sought-after striker.

Former Plzen boss Miroslav Koubek, said: “He is at a high level, which is rising with every match. His main strength is in the penalty area, he is still a bit sluggish outside it but what can I criticize him for when he scores two goals?

West Ham have apparently also made an approach to sign Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsenand it is believed that the Norwegian is open to an east London move. However, the asking price for Strand Larsen also sits at around £45m, which presents a roadblock, making Durosinmi a more realistic option for West Ham.

While Mr O'Rourke claims West Ham tabled £12m for Durosinmi, Czech sources indicate the actual figure offered stands significantly lower at around £4.3m. Plzeň have apparently deemed this sum unacceptable and remain unwilling to sell their start striker at this price, especially given that his contract does not expire until 2027.
