ENGLISH Premier League giants Everton have joined the list of clubs looking to sign Super Eagles fullback Ryan Alebiosu during the current January transfer window following his recent impressive performances in the English Championship.
Alebiosu, 24, who plays for Blackburn Rovers in the second tier of English football, is currently in Morocco with the Super Eagles, participating in the African Cup of Nations. He featured in one group game against Uganda where he picked up an injury, which is threatening the rest of his tournament but so far, the rightback has given a good account of himself.
So far this season, Alebiosu has impressed in the Championship, leading to him attracting interest from across Europe, with clubs in major leagues like the Premiership, Bundesliga and Serie A all looking at him. Everton, Wolfsburg, Sassuolo and Genoa are among the clubs seriously looking at him as the January transfer window opens.
Born in London, Alebiosu, started his career at Arsenal and has also spent time at Crewe Alexandra and Kilmarnock. He joined Blackburn from Belgian side KV Kortrijk on a three-year deal in the summer and has made 20 appearances in the Championship this season, scoring once.
Alebiosu, is now valued at around £4m although interest in him is not expected to be stepped up until the defender returns from the African Nations Cup which ends on January 18. Blackburn currently sit 20th in the Championship, three points clear of the relegation places but despite this, Alebiosu has been one of their bright sparks.
