West Ham eye Nigerian teenage winger Mubarak Suleiman if they survive relegation battle

ENGLISH Premier League side West Ham are considering putting in a bid for Nigerian teenage winger Mubarak Suleiman with a view to signing him during the summer transfer window if they manage to avoid relegation.

West Ham currently sit 18th in the Premier League table and are desperately trying to avoid relegation to the second tier of English football. Renown for grooming young talent, West Ham are hoping that Suleiman, who currently plays for Czech Republic side Slavia Prague, will be another major success story who will help them do better in the Premier League next season.

Of late, West Ham has developed a proven track record of signing young talent from the Czech Republic, with Vladimir Coufal, Tomas Soucek, and El Hadji Diouf all thriving after making the move to east London. Suleiman, 18, currently making waves in the Slavia Prague academy, could join the list of successful transfers to the London Stadium.

For now, West Ham, are however, pre-occupied with avoiding the drop and should they survive, attention will then turn to recruitment in the summer. However, Suleiman’s manager, Jindřich Trpišovský, said that despite the player's electric pace and flair, he believes the winger’s attributes may suit Italian football more than the Premier League.

He said: “I think he has a bright future. Mubarak is a great prospect but so far he’s only played three senior games. He showed his true mettle against Benfica in the Youth League.

"As of today, Transfermarkt values him at €50k but I often wonder where he will be in two or three years. I always used to say that Souček was suited to the Premier League and today I would say that Suleiman might be perfect for Italy.”
