Surely President Tinubu has got to send this Nigerian Anti-Kidnapping Bill 2026 to the National Assembly today to correct the flaws inherent in the state police bill

[1] All Nigerian intelligence agencies will from henceforth be compelled to publish details of any politician, monarch or publicly exposed person on whom they have information that he could be a sponsor of terrorists, bandits, kidnappers or hoodlums

[2] As from August 1, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria and all its splinter groups are declared terrorist organisations

[3] Mobile courts will be established across all 36 states to try hoodlums in forests and anywhere they are hiding

[4] Nigerian Army units will be deployed to schools across northern Nigeria to offer protection to pupils

[5] For now, the federal government will fund regional security groups like Amotekun and the Eastern Security Network. Once they get on their feet, the geo-political zones will take over running them

[6] These regional security organisations will only be allowed to deploy men for operations if a minimum of four governors sign off on their deployment. This is to prevent individual governors using them as private armies

[7] Platoons of Nigerian Army troops will be deployed along our northern border to address the matter of gun smuggling

[8] Our defence minister will ask international military organisations like Nato to provide him with intelligence and surveillance data and video footage on all terrorist activities, kidnapping gangs, armed bandits and hoodlums in their possession

[9] Nigeria currently has a negative police-to-citizens ratio of 35 to 100,000 inhabitants. A major recruitment drive must be initiated to increase this to the United Nations average of 300 police officers per 100,000 inhabitants. We are in serious deficit at the moment

[10] By October 1 2026, the federal government will initiate plans to launch dedicated anti-terror and elite commando units in both the Nigeria Police Force and the three arms of the military services
