Femi Azeez named in Professional Footballers Association Championship Team of the Year

SUPER Eagles winger Femi Azeez has been named in the English Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Championship Team of the Year following his impressive exploits for Milwall during  the 2025/26 season.

Azeez, 24, had a standout campaign last year, during which he distinguished himself, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists in 37 Championship appearances for the Lions. His scintillating form helped Milwall helped the team get into the Championship play-offs, where they lost to Hull City in the semi finals.

Internationally, Azeez also made his debut for the Super Eagles in London in May this year, scoring two goals for Nigeria in a victory over Zimbabwe in the Unity Cup. His consistent performances and attacking contributions earned him recognition among the English Championship's leading players at the PFA awards last night.

Azeez's inclusion in the PFA Championship Team of the Year represents another major individual honour for the forward and caps a breakthrough season in which he established himself as one of Millwall’s most influential attacking players. He was included in the prestigious PFA XI alongside Carl Rushworth, Milan van Ewijk, Bobby Thomas, Tristan Crama, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Hayden Hackney, Matt Grimes, Jack Rudoni, Žan Vipotnik and Haji Wright.

This recognition is particularly significant as the PFA awards are voted for by fellow professional footballers, making Azeez’s selection a strong acknowledgment of his performances by his peers. Several Premier league clubs have made enquiries about Azeez over recent months but Milwall are yet to receive what they consider an appropriate valuation for the winger.
