NIGERIA-eligible teenage striker Chizaram Ezenwata has extended his contract at Chelsea penning a fresh deal with the English Premier League club that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until at least June 2028.
In 2025, Ezenwata signed his first professional contract with Chelsea making the transition from being an academy player into becoming a fully fledged first team member. Popularly known as Chizzy, Ezenwata, joined Chelsea from Charlton Athletic in 2023 and has since progressed through the ranks at Stamford Bridge.
Today, Ezenwata, 18, described as a stocky, muscular striker who uses his body well to hold off defenders, renewed that contract. Born in London to a Nigerian father and a Cameroonian mother, Chizzy has been developed through the age groups of the Chelsea Academy, with sharp footwork and clinical finishing among his standout features.
Last season for the Chelsea Under-18s, he enjoyed an outstanding season in front of goal, scoring 15 goals and providing seven assists in 21 matches. Now a regular in the Chelsea New Generation (CNG) squad, Ezenwata made his Premier League 2 debut in 2024/25 against Manchester City.
He continued to make an impact in the division, as well as for the Under-18s in 2025/26, which led to him being nominated for the Under-18 Premier League Player of the Season. His form has led to international recognition with England’s Young Lions where he represented England at the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar and scored a hat-trick in an 8-1 group game win over Haiti.
Most recently, Chizzy represented England during the September and October international window, scoring three goals in as many games for England Under-19 team. Nigeria are monitoring Ezenwata, who visited the Super Eagles during the 2025 Unity Cup, where he met head coach Eric Chelle.
