AFROBEAT legend Femi Anikulapo-Kuti has confirmed that a member of his Positive Force band identified as Andrew Aghedo absconded in the US just 20 minutes before they were due to perform in New York.
Just minutes before the band was due to go on stage in Central Park, New York on Sunday, Mr Aghedo could not be traced after performing at the XPoNential Music Festival in New Jersey. Femi lamented that the disappearance of Mr Aghedo, pointing out that his disappearance could have ruined his show.
Femi added: My bassist, Andrew Aghedo nearly ruined my concert yesterday in New York. He disappeared 20 minutes before the show but I want to thank the rest of the band for standing strong and giving one of the best shows of the tour.”
His sister Yeni, who shared the news and photographs of Mr Aghedo on her Instagram page, had earlier called out the bassist, praying that he gets deported. She described him as a selfish person with no feelings for others just so he could get on in life.
Yeni said: “The face of betrayal. I hope Trump catches you and deports you who deserted the band 20 mins before a concert because you want to stay in America. Betrayer, absconded bassist. Those who defend you are just like you Andrew Aghedo, you try to destroy other people to get on in life, it doesn’t work like that.”
