Atiku lashes out at Buhari describing him as the most incompetent leader in Nigeria's history

FORMER vice president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has delivered a scathing attack on the present government describing President Muhammadu Buhari as the most incompetent leader in the history of Nigeria.

In what is a volatile salvo fired ahead of next year's presidential elections that may well pit Alhaji Atiku up against President Buhari, the former vice president has promised to correct the ills brought upon the country by the present administration. P)resident Buhari is likely to be the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), while Alhaji Atiku is the frontrunner in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in which 12 candidates are standing.

Speaking yesterday after submitting his nomination form, Alhaji Atiku said his attempt to come to power is to clean the mess that Buhari would leave which has resulted in job losses, a poor economy and the ranking of the country as one of the poorest in the world. he added that President Buhari lacks the capacity to govern the country as he is unable to address matters such as development, job creation and restructuring.

Segun Sowunmi, the spokesperson for the Atiku Campaign Organisation, said: “Never in the history of Nigeria has a more incompetent person served in the chambers of the exalted office of the president. That Buhari has not been able to provide leadership and keep high-network individuals in the APC is due to his own weakness and a question of his lack of capacity to keep Nigerians together.

“Buhari has made many Nigerians lose their jobs and our country has become one of the poorest countries in the world. He has divided the country and people cannot move freely, he has made a mess of the economy."

Nigeria goes to the polls in February next year in what is likely to be a close fought election between the APC and PDP. President Buhari is almost certain to pick up the APC presidential ticket, while Alhaji Atiku will have to battle it out for the PDP slot with the likes of Ahmed Makarfi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Aminu Tambuwal, Bukola Saraki, Ibrahim Dankwambo, Sule Lamido, Tanimu Turaki, Attahiru Bafarawa, Jonah Jang, Ahmed Datti and David Mark.
