Libya's head coach resigns just days before his team faces Eagles in Uyo over six month salary arrears

LIBYA's national team head coach Adel Amrouche has quit his position just days ahead of his side's African Nations Cup qualifier with Nigeria in Uyo over the fact that he is owed six month salary arrears.

On Saturday, the Libyans are due to face the Super Eagles and preparations are well underway for the game but Mr Amrouche will now not be arriving with his team. Libya have moved swiftly to replace him with the man he succeeded Omar Al-Maryami, who has already resumed training with the team at their base in Tunisia, where they are preparing for the game.

Group leaders Libya are expected in Nigeria on Thursday with a 54 man crew which could see them lose top spot if they fail to beat Nigeria and as expected South Africa beats Seychelles. The reverse tie of their clash will be played in Tunisia, which will go a long way in determining the fate of both teams as they seek to qualify for Cameroon 2019.

As of yesterday, at least 16 Super Eagles were in Uyo training, including the likes of Ogenyi Onazi, Kenneth Omeruo, Oghenekaro Etebo, Wilfred Ndidi, Henry Onyekuru, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Alex Iwobi, Oghenekaro Etebo, Wilfred Ndidi and John Ogu. It is expected that all the others will arrive today, so Coach Gernot Rohr can commence training with his full squad.
