Super Eagles rise three places to 44th in recently-published Fifa rankings following recent victories

NIGERIA'S Super Eagles have climbed four places in the Fifa rankings just published today rising to 44th position with 1,431 based on the team's recent good form that has seen it win its last three African Nations Cup qualifiers.

In September, the Eagles were placed 47th with 1,415 points but victories over Seychelles, and home and away wins over Libya have moved the team up the table.  Nigeria is now the third placed African team in the Fifa rankings behind Tunisia and Senegal, who are ranked 22 and 25 respectively.

The Democratic Republic of Congo ranked 46th and Morocco ranked 47th are the other two African countries among the top 50. On the global scene, Belgium are now ranked world number one, ahead of France with 1,733 points to France’s 1732 points.

Brazil are third with 1,669 points, while Croatia fourth with 1,635 points and England stay fifth with 1,619 points, while Argentina are ranked 12th in the world. At the height of the Eagles glory in 1996 after the team won Olympic gold in Atlanta, Nigeria rose to an all-time high of eighth place in the Fifa rankings table.
