Aregbesola says he was an absentee husband for eight years so now wants to enjoy his wife

OSUN State's Governor Rauf Aregbesola has revealed that he spent the last eight years as an absentee husband during which he had very little time for his wife and as such would now like to spend some time with her.

Due to leave office tomorrow on November 27 and hand over to governor-elect Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, Governor Aregbesola said he hardly had any time for his spouse while in office. Already, the governor has left State House, saying he wants to give Alhaji Oyetola enough time to do necessary renovations to the building.

Governor Aregbesola said: “I want to go and rest as I have been an absentee husband for long enough. I now want to stay with my wife and enjoy each other.

“We are happy we have someone like Gboyega Oyetola succeeding this administration because he knows everything we did and will surely continue where we stop, so, there is hope for this state. All praises go to God for not allowing those who wanted to use tricks to get to power without vision and who will destroy our legacies and reverse the direction and the development of the state."

He added that while he was governor, every file has to pass through Alhaji Oyetola's desk as he was the chief of staff. According to Governor Aregbesola, the new governor-elect is thus set for the job.

Earlier this month, Governor Aregbesola revealed that he did not earn a kobo in salary during the eight years which he governed the state and he does not have bank accounts where money was kept in any part of the world. He added that since it was the state that was feeding him, fuelling his cars and provided him with accommodation, there was no need for him to be paid.
