Oyetola takes over as Osun State governor as Tinubu reaffirms his support for Buhari

GOVERNOR Rauf Aregbesola has formally bowed out of office as the Osun State governor handing over to governor-elect Gboyega Oyetola at an elaborate swearing-in ceremony today in the capital Oshogbo.

In a ceremony presided over by the Osun State chief judge Justice Oyebola Ojo, Governor Oyetola and his deputy Benedict Alabi, took the oath of office in front of a packed crowd. Speaking at the event, All Progressives Congress (APC) leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, lauded the outgoing governor of the state for flying the flag of the progressives for eight years.

Asiwaju Tinubu assured Governor Oyetola of the total support of all progressives governors in the country and pledged his assistance whenever called upon. He added that Governor Aregbesola successfully ran the affairs of the state as a progressive based on welfare programmes.

“This is no mean achievement. You walked the path, talked the talk and did the job,” Asiwaju Tinubu added.

He also used the occasion to restate that the southwest geo-political zone was fully behind President Muhammadu Buhari as he seeks re-election next year. In February, Nigeria goes to the polls and President Buhari will be seeking a second term as the APC candidate.

Asiwaju Tinubu added: “We are solidly behind President Buhari, no shaking. We are not going back to the past years of greed and there is no room for any other party in the southwest."

According to Asiwaju Tinubu,  if the PDP government laid a good foundation, there would have been no need for the rebuilding programmes of the Buhari administration. He saluted the new governor and urged him to build on the achievements of his predecessor.
