NIGERIAN Football Federation (NFF) officials are poised to step up their quest to secure the services of Arsenal teenager Bukayo Saka after he made his debut for the club in its recent Europa League victory over Ukrainian club Vorskla.
Saka, 17, make his Arsenal debut during the week away in Ukraine in a match which the Gunners won 3-0. Prior to being given his full senior cap, Saka had impressed in the Arsenal U23 team after making the step up from the U18s, catching the eye of head coach Unai Emery, who decided hand him a shirt in Ukraine having decided to rest his regular players for the clash.
Sporting jersey number 87, Saka came on in the 69th minute for Aaron Ramsey with Arsenal comfortably leading the home side 3-0. He immediately showed why he is so highly rated with a clever step-over before stinging the palms of the Vorskla goalkeeper with a well hit left footed shot.
Although Saka has represented England at U20 level, Paul Aigbogun, the Flying Eagles coach is keen on having the youngster in his squad for the African U20 Cup of Nations next year. It is not yet clear if England will fight to secure his services as the growing battle for players with dual citizenship intensifies between both nations.
