NIGER Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has threatened to kill the head of the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) Nnamdi Kanu if he comes after him as the war of words between the two of them escalates on social media.
Up until recently, Messrs Dokubo and Kanu was comrades in arms, both committed to the cause of carving out a sovereign state of Biafra from Nigeria. Of late, however, they have fallen out with each accusing the other of betrayal to the Nigerian authorities and selling out the Biafran cause for money.
Last month, Mr Dokubo accused Mr Kanu of masterminding the murder of one of his critics and a former Ipob member Prophet Anthony Nwoko in Enugu. Since then, the relationship between the two men has become very bitter and today, it took a turn for the worse when Mr Dokubo published a video on Facebook saying he will eliminate Mr Kanu.
In the video, Mr Dokubo said that the struggle for the actualisation of the sovereign state of Biafra has been compromised by the Ipob leader. In addition, he added that he wondered why Mr Kanu is running instead of facing the Nigerian government squarely and repeated his accusation that the Ipob leader killed Prophet Nwoko, insisting he has not killed anyone before, even as a Muslim.
Mr Dokubo said: “Our fellow Biafrans, in this period of darkness, a few people have decided to thrash our struggle in the blood of our own people, so that they will become supreme leaders, saviours and messiahs. We didn’t see the red flag, the signals were always there but some people saw it before us.
“But because we believed that Biafra must be achieved with any means possible, we did not see these dangerous signals early enough. If one idiot threatens to attack me and makes good his words to attack me, I’ll kill him.”
He warned that he would not hesitate to kill Nnamdi Kanu if he dares him. Mr Asari added: “I’m not boasting, I’ll smoke you out from every hole, every corner. They know me."
