Wilfred Ndidi ties the knot with his childhood sweetheart Fortune at traditional ceremony in Abuja

SUPER Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has tied the know with his childhood sweetheart medical student Fortune at a traditional ceremony held in Abuja that was attended by several footballing greats including Nnamdi Kanu.

Ndidi, 22, has just finished a brilliant season in the English Premier League, during which he created history by winning a record 144 tackles. He is now the subject of interest from several big sides with Manchester United fans even voting on their club's website in favour of Ndidi, asking that he be signed ahead of the coming season.

For now, however, Ndidi will be going to the African Nations Cup due to start next month in Egypt, so decided to have a traditional marriage before joining his team mates in camp. Fortune, his longtime girlfriend is a medical student and they are said to have known each other since they were teenagers.

Ndidi's Leicester City teammate, Kelechi Iheanacho led the array of friends to the wedding in Abuja, which is due to be followed up with a white wedding after the Nations Cup. Apparently, Ndidi is planning to have a long honeymoon after the Nations Cup before the start of the 2019/20 season.
