MEN of the Kogi State Police Command have arrested six men in connection with the recent murder of Salome Abu former councillor and women's leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who was burnt to death during the recent gubernatorial elections.
Mrs Abu, from Ochadamu in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, was burnt to death on November 18 when her house was set on fire as part of the violence that characterised the recent Kogi governorship elections. Apparently, her house was burnt down un a reprisal attack but unfortunately, she was in it when the building was set ablaze.
Deputy Superintendant of Police, William Aya, a spokesman for the Kogi State Police Command, said that the suspects were taken into custody last Friday. He added that police had started interrogating the suspects to ascertain their level of culpability in the death of the Mrs Abu.
According to Mr Aya, that the outcome of the investigation would be made public as soon as it was completed. Yesterday, President Muhammadu Buhari directed the police to arrest the killers of Mrs Abu with a view to bringing them to justice.
