Super Eagles to play Argentina's national team Albiceleste in Moscow on November 14

ARGENTINA'S football federation has confirmed that its national team Albiceleste will play Nigeria's Super Eagles on October 14 on Russia as part of a series of warm-up games in the run up to the World Cup.

Both Nigeria and Argentina have qualified for Russia 2018, although Nigeria still has a dead rubber qualifier to play against Algeria's Desert Foxes in Algiers on October 10. On that same date, Argentina will face World Cup hosts Russia in Moscow and four days later, the two teams will meet again in the Russian capital.

Since qualifying for the World Cup last month when the Super eagles beat Zambia 1-0 at home, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has been searching for friendly games to help the team prepare adequately for the World Cup. Head coach Gernot Rohr, has said he was hoping to play two friendlies during the November Fifa window that lasts from the 9th to the 15th.

Argentina are hoping the game will help them prepare adequately for the World Cup after qualifying for the tournament in dramatic circumstances on the final day of the South America qualifiers with a 3-1 win away to Ecuador. It will be the third time both countries will be meeting in a friendly game, Nigeria won the first game 4-1, while Argentina won the second friendly game played in Malaysia 3-1‎.

Both teams have met three times on the World Cup proper, with Argentina winning all the games.  This friendly will allow both teams to have a feel for the World Cup environment and view the facilities ahead of the big dance next summer.
