Efe Ambrose appointed as reserve team assistant manager as Scottish side Livingston

FORMER Super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose has been appointed as a member of the coaching crew at Scottish Premier League side Livingston being named as the assistant coach of the reverse team yesterday.

Currently playing for the club, Efe once plied his trade with Glasgow giants Celtic and Hibernian before joining Livingston in February this year. Ambrose, who has 47 Nigerian caps, was signed by Celtic manager Neil Lennon back in 2012 and went on to make 169 appearances for the side.

Although often criticised for his defending, overall he remained pretty popular with Celtic supporters thanks to a few periods of consistent form, his infectious personality and unbelievable goal celebrations. In total, he won six trophies with Celtic, including four league titles during a nine-in-a-row run.

Still a player with Livingston, Efe will be combining his playing duties with assistant manager duties alongside Gary Maley while Marvin Bartley takes over as the reserves manager. Livingston confirmed on Twitter that the experienced trio would coach as well as play.

A Livingston spokesman said: "At just 31, Ambrose has a lot of playing left in him but it is good to see him beginning the transition into life after football by coaching and helping young players come through. Efe and Stretch are two massive characters but in all seriousness, they both bring their own level of expertise."
