PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has signed five bilateral air agreements with two African and five Asian countries as part of a plan to make the country more accessible to international travel.
Yesterday in Abuja, President Buhari signed the Instruments of Ratification of the Bilateral Air Services Agreements between Nigeria and Algeria, Congo, the People’s Republic of China, Qatar and Singapore. Nigeria has one of the world's fastest growing aviation markets and is seen as a potential gold mine by the industry and the world's international airlines.
Presidential spokesman Mallam Garba Shehu, stated that the signing of the agreements by the president followed approval by the Federal Executive Council. He added that with the execution of these instruments, it is expected that Nigeria’s aviation links with the respective countries will improve significantly.
Meanwhile, vice president Professor Yemi Osinbajo will inaugurate the first set of the Joint Working Group for the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan Focus policy labs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja later today. His spokesman, Laolu Akande, said this is meant to push forward with the economic progress recorded so far by the Buhari administration.
He added that the objectives of the Buhari administration’s ERGP include eradicating corruption in government procurement and processes, prudent management of resources, social inclusion, overcoming power constraints and skills shortages and further promoting private sector inclusion.
