Two Nigerian teenagers included in Man United's mid-season Spanish camping squad

NIGERIA-eligible teenagers Maximillian Oyedele and Shola Shoretire have been included in the Manchester United squad that has travelled to Spain for a week as part of the club's plans to get ready for the resumption of the Premier League later this month.

For the first time ever, the World Cup is being held mid-season and due to this, the English Premier League is on a break to resume on December 26, just a week after the final of Qatar 2022, which shall take place on the 18th. In anticipation of the resumption, most clubs are organising training sessions, with Man United deciding to take its team to Spain.

Manager Erik ten Hag has taken central midfielder Oyedele and striker Shoretire to the Andalusian Province, where the squad will be based for a week. Born in Manchester to a Polish mother and a Nigerian father, Oyedele has made five appearances for Poland's U19 national team since the start of this season.

Oyedele, 18, who signed his professional contract in the summer, trained with League Two club Doncaster Rovers in October. He was then invited to train with the Manchester United first team in their final workout before a Europa League meeting with Omonia Nicosia two months ago.

It is believed that Mr Ten Hag included Oyedele to join the travelling squad to make up the numbers. As part of their preparations for the Premier League restart, Man United will face La Liga sides Cadiz and Real Betis in friendly matches on December 7 and December 10 respectively.

Shoretire for his part  needs no introduction. He is a member of Man United's first team and has five appearances to his name for the senior squad, the last of which came against Crystal Palace on the final day of last season.
