NIGERIA'S ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked rumour that its presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu postponed a trip to the US scheduled to take place this month because he was denied a visa.
Last week, it was reported that Asiwaju Tinubu would travel to key western capitals as from December 4 and was expected to return to Nigeria on December 12 to continue his campaign. It was recently reported, however, that the trip had been postponed because the former Lagos State governor had been denied a visa.
Debunking the rumour, the APC released a photo of Asiwaju Tinubu’s US visa, with the party spokesman Festus Keyamo, saying they needed to do it to shut critics up. He added that the rumour was the latest attempt in a series of misinformation campaigns being dished out by the political opposition.
Mr Keyamo said: “For mischief-makers who peddle unfounded rumours about Bola Tinubu being denied a visa to the US, you leave us with no option but to show you his current visa that has always been renewed since time immemorial. This is for the misguided ones who believe these rumours."
Asiwaju Tinubu has been billed to speak at Chatham House in London tomorrow. He is expected to outline his plans to a host of foreign investors and economists, breaking down his plans for the country.
