Aston Villa said to be eyeing Uzoho as a possible replacement for Man United-bound Martinez

SUPER Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho is apparently being looked at by English Premier League side Aston Villa as replacement for Argentine Emiliano Martinez who may be on his way to Manchester United following his recent World Cup heroics.

Martinez, 30, joined Villa on September 16 2020 from Arsenal, signing a four year deal with the Midlands side. Over the last month, he has excelled beyond his wildest dreams, not only wining the World Cup with Argentina but also picking up the golden glove award as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

As a result of his current great form, Manchester United are looking to sign Martinez as \a replacement for their current goalkeeper David de Gea. Uzoho, the Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper, who blamed for Nigeria's failure to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar after being beaten by a Thomas Partey's low shot at the Moshood Abiola stadium, Abuja on March 29, is seen as an ideal replacement at Villa Park.

Uzoho's club form, especially on the Uefa Europa League has convinced several clubs across Europe that he can do a decent job for them. Aston Villa in particular are said to be looking in the direction of Uzoho as the search for the likely successor to the Argentine goalkeeper is set to begin with the transfer window set to open in a week's time.
