PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has announced that he will personally attend about 10 rallies of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu the presidential candidate of his All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of next month's elections.
In February, Nigeria will go to the polls to elect a new president, state governors, members of the National Assembly, state governors and members of the 36 state houses of assemblies. President Buhari's ruling APC is fielding former Lagos State governor Asiwaju Tinubu as its presidential candidate, with former vice president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party seem as the main challenger.
With the polls just a month away, President Buhari has expressed readiness to be present at some of the APC presidential campaign rallies. Festus Keyamo, the spokesman for the Tinubu/Shettima campaign, said President Buhari would lead APC presidential campaign rallies in Lagos, Imo, Katsina and seven other states.
A timetable released by Mr Keyamo listed the seven other states as Adamawa State on January 9; Yobe State on January 10; Sokoto State on January 16; Kwara State on January 17; Ogun State on January 25; Cross River State on January 30; Nassarawa State on February 4; Katsina State on February 6; Imo State on February 14 and the grand finale in Lagos State on February 18. Mr Keyamo appealed to APC members and Asiwaju Tinubu’s supporters to turn out en masse for the upcoming campaign rallies.
Mr Keyamo added: “The zero hour is nigh. Our spirits must be high and we must not relent in this our collective march to our victory that is divinely ordained.”
