NIGERIAN midfielder Hakeem Odoffin has been selected to be a part of this weekend's English Football League Team of the Week following his scintillating performance for his club Rotherham on Saturday.
In what was nothing but a five star performance, Rotherham thrashed former Premier league champions Blackburn Rovers 4-0 at the New York Stadium in York. Odoffin, 24, got the scoring going in the first minute of the game when he smashed the ball home from inside the penalty area.
Recognised for his outstanding performance, football statistics website Whoscored.com named the former Tottenham Hotspur schoolboy in its Team of the Week. Odoffin, who is also capable of also playing as a central defender, netted his first goal of the season over the weekend after 443 minutes of action in 12 matches across all competitions.
Whoscored.com uses statistics to rank players' performances and Odoffin, who was on the pitch for 90 minutes before he was replaced in injury time, earned a rating of 8.22. In August 2021, Odoffin signed a three-year deal with Rotherham United, joining them from Scottish side Hamilton Academicals.
Odoffin joined Reading as an under-15 in 2012, after being released by Tottenham Hotspur and stayed there for two years before joining Barnet on a two-year scholarship in 2014. He joined Wolves in January 2016 and was released at the end of the 2017/18 season, joining Northampton Town on a two-year deal in July 2018 and then moving to Scottish Premiership club Livingston and from there to Hamilton Academicals.
