Crystal Palace striker Ademola Ola-Adebomi expected in Flying Eagles camp by the weekend

CRYSTAL Palace teenage striker Ademola Ola-Adebomi is due to arrive in Nigeria this Sunday January 22 as he honours his invitation to the Flying Eagles in what will be his debut appearance for Nigeria.

Ola-Adebomi, 19, has been invited to camp by Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso to participate in the 2023 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations, which serves as qualifiers for the Fifa U-20 World Cup taking place in Indonesia later in May. Unlike his Palace teammate, Anglo-Canadian-Nigerian goalkeeper Owen Goodman, who is playing a game of cat and mouse with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ola-Adebomi is fully committed to the Flying Eagles.

A left-footed striker, Ola-Adebomi has urged the Palace hierarchy to release him ahead of the Caf tournament which takes place in Egypt.  Ola-Adebomi, who was missing from the Crystal Palace side that lost 1-2 to Fulham in a Premier League derby on Monday, is one of the foreign-based strikers officially invited to the squad, alongside KAA Gent's Ahmed Abdullahi and Arsenal's Joel Ideho.

Ola-Adebomi is highly rated by Palace's coaching staff led by Patrick Vieira and was recently given minutes in a pre-season friendly against Manchester United in July 2022. Already, former Golden Eaglets striker Wisdom Ubani of NK Jarun in Croatia and Kenny Coker and David Aziaya, both Norwich City, are said to have already reported for international duty in Abuja.
