CHELSEA manager Graham Potter is considering handing Nigeria-eligible new signing Chukwunonso Madueke his competitive debut this weekend when the Blues lick horns with Fulham at Stanford Bridge in London derby.
As part of their Vision 2030 project, Chelsea snapped up, Madueke, the England U21 international of Nigerian descent last week, tying him up to a seven-and-a-half-year deal until the 2030/31 season. With the club struggling in the league, manager Potter is considering handing the youngster his competitive debut this weekend.
Chelsea confirmed through their official website that Madueke took part in a light training session at Cobham Training Centre yesterday and added that his potential debut comes during the weekend. Dutch side PSV Eindhoven agreed to sell the 20 year old to Chelsea last week for €35m.
An exciting winger, Madueke has not really played much this season as he spent the first two months of the campaign on the sidelines due to an ankle injury he suffered during pre-season training. Madueke, a product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy, played three matches against Premier League opposition during his PSV days, including against Arsenal in the Europa League and Leicester City in the Europa Conference League.
