Arsenal's on-loan Nigerian midfielder Miguel Azeez given one match suspension by English FA

ARSENAL'S Nigeria-eligible midfielder Miguel Azeez has been suspended for one match and fined by the English Football Association for picking up a flare and throwing it back at fans during a recent league match.

Azeez, 20, born in England to a Nigerian father and Spanish mother, is currently on loan to English Championship side Wigan Athletic until the end of the season. Eligible to represent three different countries at senior international level, Azeez has played for England at U16, U17,U18, U19 and U20 levels.

After picking up a flare after the Latics' late equaliser against Cardiff City, Azeez has now been suspended by the FA and will not be selected for his team's league game against Blackburn Rovers on February 6. According to Wigan Athletic's official webpage, Azeez admitted to the charge of improper conduct at an FA Independent Regulatory Commission hearing and has also received a fine in addition to a suspension.

Wigan are currently bottom of the English Championship and Azeez joined them this month to help lift them off the foot of the table. So dire at things at the club that former Arsenal legend and Ivorian international Kolo Toure, has just been sacked as Wigan's manager after a poor run of games.
