SUPER Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been nominated for the English Premier League player of the month for February following his string of successful outings that have seen him do well in consecutive games.
Iheanacho, 26, had a tough start to the season, making only 14 Premier League appearances for Leicester City, most of which were off the bench. However, things got better for him at the end of January when he scored against Walsall in the round of 32 of the English FA Cup, sparking off a rejuvenation.
Since then, Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers has started giving him minutes. Iheanacho got a goal and an assist in consecutive games against Aston Villa and Tottenham but he was subsequently caged in Leicester City’s next Premier League games against Arsenal and Manchester, where he failed to score.
However, his performances did not go unnoticed, as the Premier League has nominated him for the player of the month award. Iheanacho will slug it out with Emerson Royal (Tottenham), Bernd Leno (Fulham), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Manor Solomon (Fulham) and Ollie Watkins(Aston Villa) for the award.
