If Bola Tinubu is a thinking man, he will have started initiating plans to build a wall of Dragons Teeth across Nigeria’s northern border

[1] I assume Bola Tinubu is aware of the fact that there are about 6m illegal firearms in Nigeria. Almost all of them came from Libya’s armoires, which were looted when the Gaddafi administration fell

[2] If Nigeria’s government wants to combat the growing insecurity across the nation, it needs to do something about its porous border. Especially the northern border with Niger Republic, which is a haven for smugglers, gun runners, terrorists and religious zealots

[3] I hope Bola Tinubu has plans to build a border that will combat the incessant influx of AK47s into Nigeria. Building a wall of Dragons Teeth will go a long way towards achieving this

[4] Dragon's teeth are square-pyramidal anti-tank obstacles of reinforced concrete first used during the Second World War to impede the movement of tanks and mechanised infantry

[5] Basically, the idea of Dragons Teeth was to slow down and channel tanks into killing zones where they could easily be disposed of by anti-tank weapons. Nigeria needs them to combat the influx of lorries, pick-up trucks and motorcycles that are used to smuggle weapons across the border

[6] Typically, each Dragons Tooth is 90cm to 120cm tall. Land mines were often laid between teeth and further obstacles were constructed along the lines of teeth, such as barbed wire or diagonally-placed steel beams

[7] Just imagine if the border area between Nigeria and Niger Republic was mined like this. Such landmines would go a long way to combat the current influx of AK47 assault rifles

[8] Due to the huge numbers of Dragons Teeth laid across Europe during World War Two and their durable construction, many thousands can still be seen today, especially in the remains of the Siegfried Line bordering Germany and France

[9] In Korea, Dragons Teeth are used in some areas along the Korean Demilitarized Zone borderline

[10] Along the Russia and Ukraine border in  Belgorod Oblast, defensive lines of dragon's teeth were constructed in October 2022 under the supervision of the Wagner Group
