Buhari authorises the creation of a free trade Ekiti Knowledge Zone in Ado Ekiti

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has approved a request made by the trade and industry minister Adeniyi Adebayo to create an Ekiti Knowledge Zone under ambitious plans to accelerate the growth of the digital industry in the state.

 

In a move that will create a free trade zone, this Ekiti Knowledge Zone will be situated on 209 hectares of land located on Ado-Ijan Road, in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital. Ifedayo Sayo, the special assistant to the minister, said the approval was conveyed in a letter titled Recommendation for Approval and Designation of Free Trade Zone Status in Ekiti Knowledge Zone.

 

He said that the letter addressed to the minister was signed by the chief of staff to the president, Professor Ibrahim Gambari. It read: "Kindly note that Mr President has granted free zone status approval for the Ekiti Knowledge Zone located along Ado-Ijan road, Ekiti State.

 

“This is on a parcel of land measuring approximately 208.949 hectares with coordinates 8042765.02m’N; 761’244.963m’ E, in accordance with Section 1(1) of the NEPZA Act Cap. N107 Laws of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2004.”
