Norwich City's teenage striker Kenny Coker invited to Flying Eagles camp ahead of World Cup

NORWICH City's Nigerian teenage striker Kenny Coker has been invited to the Flying Eagles training camp in Abuja ahead of the forthcoming U20 World Cup in Argentina which kicks off next month.

On May 20, the U20 World Cup will get underway in Argentina, with the hosts taking on Uzbekistan in the opening match. Nigeria has been drawn in Group D alongside Brazil, Italy and the Dominican Republic and head coach Ladan Bosso has opened up the training camp with a view to having his squad of 23 ready by next month.

Coker, 19, trained with the Flying Eagles prior to their African Cup of Nations campaign that saw them secure a third-placed play-off in the tournament but they beaten by Tunisia 4-0. As one of the semi finalists in that tournament, the Flying Eagles qualified for the World Cup and Coker has been recalled to fight for a shirt in the squad.

Although Coker did not make the squad last time around, coach Basso and his coaching team are keen to run the rule over the striker again ahead of the global tournament. Coker joined Norwich City in July 2021 from Southend United and has made 15 appearances for Alan Neilson's under-21s in the Premier League Two this season.
