Buhari to head for London tonight where he will attend King Charles' coronation and Commonwealth summit

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari will leave Nigeria for the UK today where he is due to join numerous other world leaders to attend the coronation of King Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla over the weekend.

 

Expected to arrive in London in the early hours of tomorrow, President Buhari will join other world leaders invited to attend the coronation at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, 6 May. They will be crowned as His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen of England respectively.

 

Ahead of the coronation, the Commonwealth Secretariat will take advantage of the gathering of leaders in London to host a Commonwealth summit for presidents and heads of government of its members on Friday, May 5. President Buhari is billed to participate in the Summit which will deliberate on the future of the Commonwealth and the role of the youth moving forward.

 

On the trip, the president will be accompanied by the secretary to the government of the federation Boss Mustapha, foreign affairs minister Geoffrey Onyeama and the minister of information and culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed. Others on the entourage will include national security adviser Babagana Monguno, Ahmed Abubakar the director-general of the National Intelligence Agency and Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chairperson of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission.
