ENGLISH Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspurs are considering launching an audacious bid for Crystal Palace mercurial playmaker of Nigerian extraction Eberechi Eze during the forthcoming summer transfer window.
Eze, 24, who was once invited to the Super Eagles camp, has long been on the radar of the Nigerian Football Federation. This season, Eze has increased his value substantially following his enhanced performances with Palace in the Premier League, which has attracted the attention of many suitors.
According to Spanish transfer market website Fichjaes, Tottenham are considering signing Eze as a replacement for Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski. Expected to leave at the end of the season, Kulusevski joined Spurs from Juventus on an 18-month loan deal in January 2022 with an option to buy at the end of his loan spell which will only be triggered if certain goals were achieved.
However, Spurs will not be participating in the Uefa Champions League next season, which might mean a likely departure for Kulusevski. As a result, Tottenham are interested in Eze, who netted a brace over the weekend to take his goal tally to 10 this season, making him Palace's top scorer in the Premier League.
Eze has two years left on his contract with Palace, which might prompt the club to sell him this summer unless he extends his contract. Back in March 2017, Eze trained with the Super Eagles in London before a cancelled friendly against Burkina Faso but he was not capped, meaning that he will have to go through a Fifa switch to play for Nigeria, having since featured for the England youth teams.
