ENGLISH Premier League giants Manchester United have sent scouts to watch Belgian club gent's Nigerian striking sensation Gift Orban with a view to signing him during the forthcoming summer transfer window.
Orban, 20, has been in terrific form for Gent this season, scoring 19 goals in 19 games since joining them from Norwegian side Stabaek. That includes a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Cercle Brugge and a first-half hat-trick in 4–1 away win over İstanbul Başakşehir in the Uefa Europa Conference League round 16.
That continental hat-trick was scored within three minutes and 25 seconds, setting a new record for the fastest hat-trick in Uefa club competitions, breaking the previous record of six minutes and 12 seconds held by Mohammed Salah in the Champions League. On 12 March, Orban scored four goals in a 6–2 away win over Zulte Waregem, which made him the first player of Gent to do so in the 21st century.
Man United manager Erik ten Hag will be prioritising a striker this summer as he searches for a prolific goalscorer who can make an immediate impact next season. United have been linked with players like Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen but Mr Ten Hag will be looking for two strikers , with one of them being a youngster.
Brighton’s Evan Ferguson is thought to be on his mind as an ideal option but the Seagulls recently agreed fresh terms with the Republic of Ireland international. That means striking an agreement will not be easy.
Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad claim Man United sent scouts to watch Gent striker Gift Orban this past weekend. Orban joined Gent on a permanent deal in January for a mere £2m and got off to a flying start, as on February 11, he scored two goals on his Pro League debut in a 3-3 draw with Westerlo.
